Ballgirl

Not sure I believe this, but it is a cool video.

Here's why I question this:

First off, the ballgirl charges into the corner to catch the ball. This wouldn't happen during a game. Ballgirls (and boys) just pick up ground balls that go foul and throw them in the crowd. They never shag flies, because a fielder might have a shot at getting an out, and they especially wouldn't run this far to do it. She is running like she was shot of a cannon to the exact spot where the ball was headed, and she comes a long way to do it. Jim Edmonds never tracked a ball this well.

Secondly, she never looks for the ball. She runs to the corner, climbs the wall like a cat, and sticks her glove up to catch the ball.

All that aside, even if this is a fake, it's a good one, and I'm sure she's a better outfielder than Chris Duncan in any case.

This Thursday!

Remember, we are meeting tomorrow (6/26) @ Joanie's Pizzeria in Soulard around 6:00-6:30. From there, who knows where we will end up, so make sure you have cell numbers to track us down. Feel free to comment!

A-B Board to meet Friday

Tomorrow is of course a big day as the Anheuser-Busch board meets to discuss the InBev bid. Linda Greer has forwarded a new web site with a petition to sign:
http://saveab.com/thankyou.php

Also, she asked me to post a comment from her cousin, Cathy Nichols:

"OK Linda. I have signed the petition with pleasure. My comment was: " Budweiser is an American institution. This is just the beginning of America for sale to the highest bidder." I mean that. I am afraid that our government has not protected our American sovereignty by paying down the national debt which Ross Perot says is increasing by a billion or more a day. They have set the stage for a buyout of virtually everything American by foreigners. We will all be tenants on the land because of corporate greed and political indifference. Our government has not been an example of fiscal self-discipline, and has a set a poor example for the citizens who overspend and fail to save. Sorry! it's my latest soapbox. Hope it doesn't happen."

Please tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on 'donating a mammogram' for free (pink window in the middle).

This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising.

Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know.

From Linda Greer...

OK, someone once said, nothing ventured, nothing gained. So I am venturing out to all my friends and family to help us Save Budweiser!! We are all concerned here at A-B about the possible takeover of A-B by InBev. If InBev succeeds in buying us, times will truly change for Anheuser-Busch and St. Louis ... InBev is a very cost-conscious company (kind of like the Wal-Mart of beer corporations – at least that is what I have gleaned from reading up on them…), based in Belgium with no roots in the USA or STL. In addition to many cost-cutting measures, I'm afraid they will end up turning the Clydesdales into dog food and the Dalmatians into Chinese food!
There is some good information on this site about A-B and our deep roots and tradition in St. Louis . I ask you all to please check it out and, if you would be so kind, sign the petition!!!
P.S. I had some problems with getting all my addresses in the “to” field, so if you get my message twice it just means I like you twice as much!!
Linda :)
